In a public alert issued on Wednesday, January 24, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has raised concerns regarding the widespread sale of counterfeit Arla Dano 14g full cream Milk Powder across various states in Nigeria.
The announcement, disseminated through NAFDAC’s official communication platform, disclosed that investigations unveiled the brazen display of these counterfeit products in the market.
As a response, NAFDAC has directed its zonal directors and state coordinators to conduct thorough surveillance to identify and remove the fake Arla Dano Milk powder from circulation across the country.
The agency urged caution among distributors, retailers, and consumers, advising them to meticulously check the authenticity and physical condition of the product before consumption, sale, or distribution. Individuals in possession of the counterfeit Arla Dano 14g full cream Milk Powder were urged to surrender their stock to the nearest NAFDAC office.
In the event of consumption or any adverse reactions related to the counterfeit product, the public was strongly advised to promptly seek medical advice from qualified healthcare professionals.
NAFDAC encouraged citizens to report any suspicions regarding the distribution or sale of counterfeit or unwholesome packaged food products to the nearest NAFDAC office, contact NAFDAC directly at 0800-162-3322, or utilize the provided email address: sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng.
Consumers were also reminded to report any adverse effects resulting from the consumption of fake food products to the nearest NAFDAC office in their vicinity. NAFDAC emphasized the importance of collective vigilance in ensuring the safety and authenticity of food products circulating in the market.
