FCCPC Gives Green Light To UAC’s Acquisition Of CHI Limited

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has approved the sale of Chivita Hollandia (CHI Limited) to UAC of Nigeria PLC, completing a transaction initially announced on July 30, 2025.

This development marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods industry.

UAC’s Group Managing Director, Fola Aiyesimoju, expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating, “We are excited to officially welcome the Chivita Hollandia team and brands into the UAC family, and we are eager to work together to build on their strong legacy and market leadership.” The acquisition aligns with UAC’s growth agenda, adding two market-leading brands and a well-established distribution network to its portfolio.

The acquisition is expected to strengthen UAC’s position in Nigeria’s FMCG sector, expanding its footprint into the growing juice and dairy markets. Eelco Weber, Managing Director of CHI Limited, noted, “We are pleased to have received regulatory approval for this transaction. We look forward to a smooth transition and to seeing Chivita Hollandia thrive under UAC’s ownership.”

This strategic move is likely to reshape competition in Nigeria’s beverage and dairy sectors, creating a more diversified and innovation-driven market dynamic. Industry analysts believe the acquisition will unlock new revenue streams and strengthen UAC’s position as a leader in locally driven innovation.

UAC’s share price surged 10% intraday following the announcement, reflecting investor confidence in the deal. The company’s financial momentum is evident in its half-year 2025 financial results, which showed strong topline growth and improved operational efficiency.

The acquisition underscores a growing trend in Nigeria’s consumer sector, where local and international firms are seeking to strengthen their positions amid rising competition and changing consumer demand. With this development, UAC is poised to consolidate its return to consumer-focused innovation, a segment where it has deep historical roots.
