The Federal Government has allocated fertiliser worth over ₦450 million for farmers in Jigawa State at subsidised rates.
Governor Umar Namadi disclosed this during a Citizens’ Engagement Programme in Miga Local Government Area, explaining that the initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” to boost agricultural productivity and food security.
“We have allocated 20 trucks of fertiliser to Jigawa State to be sold at subsidised rates to farmers,” Governor Namadi said, adding that the move aims to support farmers with essential inputs and equipment to improve food production and agribusiness across the state.
Namadi noted that Miga, being an agrarian area with vast arable land suitable for year‑round farming, will benefit significantly from the Federal Government’s agricultural support. He further emphasised that his administration’s 12‑point agenda aligns with the Renewed Hope vision, with agriculture and food security as top priorities.
The governor also announced the creation of the Jigawa State Farm Service Mechanisation Company Limited, which will provide affordable mechanisation services, including tractors, combine harvesters, and other machinery to farmers across the state. “We are also seeking qualified and motivated individuals to manage and operate these centres effectively,” he added.
This intervention is expected to enhance farming efficiency, increase crop yields, and strengthen food security in the state, demonstrating the government’s commitment to supporting local farmers.
Governor Namadi encouraged farmers to take full advantage of the programme and assured them of continued government support in ensuring the success of agricultural initiatives.
