The Federal Government has taken a major leap toward transforming Nigeria’s education landscape with the rollout of the Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes Initiative—a nationwide digital learning programme designed to expand access to quality education for schoolchildren across the country.

Announcing the initiative in a statement on Tuesday, the Federal Ministry of Education described the programme as a groundbreaking effort to provide equitable learning opportunities for every Nigerian child.

The statement, signed by the Ministry of Education’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, emphasised that Inspire Live(s) aligns fully with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which places strong focus on inclusive and technology-driven development in the education sector.

According to the Ministry, the Inspire Live(s) programme was conceived to tackle several long-standing challenges in the nation’s education system—particularly shortages of qualified teachers, limited access to quality instruction in remote areas, and disruptions to traditional learning caused by emergencies or infrastructural gaps.

By streaming live, interactive lessons directly to students across Nigeria, the initiative democratises access to quality education, ensuring, as the Ministry noted, that “no child is left behind regardless of location or circumstance.”

Rollout Begins Nationwide

The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, confirmed that full implementation of the Inspire Live(s) project has already begun. He noted that expansion efforts are underway and will eventually cover all classes from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3.

At present, the Inspire platform is actively hosting online classes for Junior Secondary School (JSS), and Senior Secondary School (SSS), students. These classes run Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and are delivered by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex, a globally recognised video conferencing platform.

Directives to States for Smooth Implementation

To guarantee widespread participation and seamless access, the Ministry has issued directives to all State Commissioners for Education. These include:

  • Nominating a State Focal Officer to coordinate Inspire Live(s) activities.

  • Circulating programme details to principals of all public and private schools.

  • Ensuring designated schools are equipped with basic ICT tools and stable internet connectivity, which are critical for the effective delivery of the programme.

  • Overseeing that registration for participation is conducted strictly by school principals through the official Inspire support channels.

Importantly, the Ministry reiterated that the Inspire Live(s) online classes are not limited to government schools. The programme is open to all public and private schools nationwide, reinforcing its commitment to inclusivity and nationwide educational advancement.

A New Era for Digital Learning in Nigeria

The launch of the Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes Initiative marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward a modern, digital-first education ecosystem. By prioritising equitable access, harnessing technology, and empowering qualified teachers to reach learners everywhere, the Federal Government has signalled its determination to reshape the future of education and uplift every Nigerian child—irrespective of geography or circumstance.

With continued collaboration between federal and state authorities, the private sector, and school communities, the Inspire Live(s) initiative is poised to become one of the most impactful education reforms in the country’s recent history.

May Nigeria Succeed.
