The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that there will be no disruption in the supply of refined petroleum products across the country.
This assurance came after a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Domestic Crude Oil and Refined Products Sales in Local Currency Initiative, chaired by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun.
According to the committee, two major issues were discussed: the purported suspension of the Naira for crude oil arrangement by the Dangote Refinery and concerns raised by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria. “The committee reassured that the crude oil for the Naira initiative will continue,” the government stated.
The meeting had in attendance key stakeholders such as the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, and representatives from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd., Central Bank of Nigeria, and Afreximbank. The committee emphasized that all outstanding issues, particularly the dispute between PENGASSAN and Dangote Refinery, are being addressed with urgency and good faith.
