FG Rolls Out Fresh Mechanisation Scheme, Encourages Nigerians To Apply

The Federal Government has introduced a new agricultural mechanisation scheme under the Renewed Hope National Agricultural Mechanisation Programme to support farmers with modern farming tools and boost food production across the country.

The initiative is designed to help farmers move away from manual farming and embrace mechanised practices for improved output and food security.

The scheme is being implemented through the Bank of Agriculture in partnership with Heifer Nigeria to provide tractors and other essential farming equipment to Nigerian farmers and agripreneurs. The government explained that the programme is open to individual farmers, cooperatives, women and young agripreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 who are ready to embrace mechanised agriculture.

While unveiling the programme, government officials said the initiative will create opportunities for Nigerians to access farming equipment on a lease and repayment basis with flexible conditions. According to the Bank of Agriculture, the programme comes with a 15 percent interest rate and a structured servicing and maintenance plan for a period of three years. A commitment fee of 25 percent is also required for some categories of applicants.

The government described the scheme as an important step in boosting food production and reducing the stress associated with traditional farming methods. “This mechanisation drive is a key part of our plan to transition Nigerian agriculture from subsistence based practices to more productive systems that can feed the nation,” a statement from the government read.

Heifer Nigeria also expressed confidence in the programme, noting that it will empower young people and improve livelihoods across the agricultural value chain. “We believe this collaboration will create a new generation of service providers that will transform farming in Nigeria,” the organisation stated.

Interested Nigerians have been urged to submit their applications through the official Bank of Agriculture portal at boanig.com on or before November 10 2025. The government advised applicants to ensure they meet all listed requirements as applications will be screened before approval.
