FIFA Club World Cup: Enyimba Excluded In Revamped Clubs World Cup

FIFA Announces Lineup for 2025 World Club Cup, Enyimba Not Included

The upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will feature a diverse array of top clubs from around the globe, but notably absent from the lineup is Nigeria’s Enyimba International.

Enyimba International, known as the People’s Elephants, enjoyed a period of dominance in African football during the early 2000s. Despite their past successes and recent strong performances, they did not secure a spot in the 2025 edition of the Club World Cup.

The revamped tournament is set to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025, promising a spectacular celebration of football and showcasing the talent and diversity of clubs worldwide.

The qualification process for the 2025 Club World Cup is based on a meticulous system that considers each confederation’s top-performing teams in their respective Champions Leagues over the past four seasons.

UEFA (Europe) will send 12 clubs, CONMEBOL (South America) will have 6 representatives, and AFC (Asia), CAF (Africa), and CONCACAF (North, Central America, and the Caribbean) will each provide 4 teams. OFC (Oceania) will send one team, and the host nation USA automatically qualifies a team, making a total of 32 participants.

Among the qualified clubs are Al Ahly SC, securing their spot with two Champions League titles in 2021 and 2023, and Wydad Athletic Club Casablanca, earning their ticket with a continental title in 2022.

The remaining two spots will be determined during the ongoing African League of Champions 2023/24. Mamelodi Sundowns and Esperance Sportive de Tunis are in strong positions to qualify, with other contenders closely trailing behind.

While Enyimba International did not make the cut for the 2025 Club World Cup, football fans can still expect an exciting and competitive tournament featuring some of the world’s finest clubs.
