Fire Razes Trademore Estate Market In Abuja Destroying Goods Worth Millions.
A devastating fire has destroyed goods worth millions of naira at Trademore Estate, Phase II in Lugbe, Abuja, as flames engulfed the only market in the area according to report by National Periscope.
The fire, which broke out early in the morning on December 2, 2024, started at approximately 3:30 am, just after the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) restored power supply.
Eyewitness accounts reveal that the fire was sparked by an electric pole, which quickly spread into the nearby shops. Mr. Nobert, a local resident, confirmed that while the fire spread rapidly, fortunately, no lives were lost. “The spark came from an electric pole and spread into the shops, but there was no loss of life,” he stated.
Despite efforts to control the blaze, the fire completely razed the shops before the arrival of the Federal Fire Service, which responded from the EFCC and Sauka stations. Firefighters arrived two hours later, but by that time, the damage had already been done.
The owners of the shops were seen in tears, devastated by the loss of their goods and livelihoods. The destruction of the market has left many families in shock and struggling to cope with the aftermath of the incident.
