Former Nigerian aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has leveled serious accusations against international communities and agencies, alleging their involvement in the recent surge of mass abductions in Nigeria.
Fani-Kayode claims that these abductions are not only aimed at acquiring ransom money but also at destabilizing the country and undermining its leadership.
The statement comes in the wake of several incidents of mass abductions across the country. Just recently, terrorists abducted 287 school children in Kaduna State, followed by the kidnapping of at least 100 Internally Displaced Persons in Borno State. Additionally, 15 Almajiri students were abducted in Sokoto State.
In a press release issued on Saturday, Fani-Kayode stated that the motives behind these abductions are multifaceted. He said, “There are two reasons for the mass abductions and kidnappings that we are witnessing in our country today. Firstly to garner cash… and secondly to destabilize our country.” He further emphasized the involvement of “shady and sinister characters, international criminal cartels, foreign Governments and intelligence agencies.”
Fani-Kayode believes Nigeria is being targeted for destruction, division, and disintegration by those with vested interests. He accused Western nations of orchestrating these events to maintain their regional hegemony and prevent Nigeria from asserting itself on the global stage.
The former minister’s allegations have sparked debates regarding Nigeria’s security and its relationship with Western powers. He criticized the reliance on Western assistance, suggesting that seeking help from other nations like Russia, China, and Iran might be more beneficial in restoring peace and prosperity to the country.
