Morrocan Football Federation President Fouzi Lekja Puts the Door Open for CAF Presidency.

The football landscape in Africa may witness a significant shift in leadership as Fouzi Lekja, the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, hints at the possibility of vying for the presidency of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Reports emerging from North Africa indicates that Fouzi Lekja President of Moroccan Football Federation is not ruling out the idea of assuming the helm of African soccer governance.

The current CAF president, Patrice Motsepe, assumed office following the tenure of Ahmad Ahmad, and indications suggest that Motsepe may not seek re-election for a second term. This development has sparked discussions about potential candidates for the prestigious position.

In a recent interview with Egyptian TV ONTime Sports, Lekja shared insights into his future aspirations. While he currently has no immediate plans to pursue the presidency of CAF, he left the door open for future possibilities.

“At the moment, I am not considering becoming the president of CAF, but you never know what will happen in the future,” remarked Lekja.

Morocco’s growing prominence in African football further fuels speculation about Lekja’s potential candidacy. The country is slated to host major football events, including the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations and the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

These upcoming tournaments underscore Morocco’s status as a football hub in the continent, enhancing Lekja’s profile and potential influence within the African football community.

As discussions about CAF’s leadership continue to evolve, observers keenly watch for any developments regarding Lekja’s potential bid for the presidency.

His extensive experience in football administration, coupled with Morocco’s pivotal role in African football, positions Lekja as a notable figure in the ongoing narrative surrounding CAF’s future leadership.
