FULafia Appoints Professor Muhammad Isa Kida As New Vice Chancellor

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has announced the appointment of Professor Muhammad Isa Kida as its new Vice Chancellor.

His appointment, approved by the university’s Governing Council, takes effect from February 11, 2026, making him the third substantive Vice Chancellor of the institution.

Before his elevation, Professor Kida served as the Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences at FULafia, where he was recognized for his leadership and commitment to academic excellence. The Governing Council commended his performance and expressed confidence that he would continue to uphold the university’s vision of promoting world-class education.

In a statement released by the institution, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council said Kida’s appointment followed a thorough selection process based on merit and experience. “Professor Kida has distinguished himself as an academic and administrator. We are confident he will build on the solid foundation laid by his predecessors,” the statement read.

Reacting to his appointment, Professor Kida expressed gratitude to the Governing Council for the trust reposed in him. He pledged to work closely with the university community to improve teaching, research, and innovation, while also enhancing student welfare and staff development. “This is a call to service, and I am committed to driving positive change across all areas of the university,” he said.

The outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, congratulated his successor and urged him to sustain the institution’s growth, particularly in research collaborations and infrastructural development. He also encouraged the staff and students to support the new administration for the continued progress of the university.

FULafia, established in 2011, has grown steadily over the years to become one of Nigeria’s leading federal universities. The appointment of Professor Kida marks another milestone in its mission to promote academic excellence and contribute meaningfully to national development.
