Ganduje Mocks NNPP’s Decline, Says Kwankwaso ‘Stranded’ As Loyalists Join APC

Ganduje Mocks NNPP’s Decline, Says Kwankwaso ‘Stranded’ As Loyalists Join APC.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has declared the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) “politically dead,” claiming the defection of its key figures has left its presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, isolated and without direction.

Speaking yesterday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja while receiving members of the Tinubu Support Groups (TSG), Ganduje likened Kwankwaso to a “General wandering in the wilderness” following the exit of several of his loyalists to the ruling party.

Ganduje, who served two terms as Governor of Kano State, maintained that the mass defections from the NNPP – particularly among senators, members of the House of Representatives, state assembly legislators, and other party executives – had stripped the party of its political relevance.

“The coffin where we would put the dead body of the party has already been constructed. What remains now is to dig the grave,” Ganduje said, in a metaphorical swipe at the state of the opposition party.

He assured that should Kwankwaso choose to return to the APC, he would be welcomed back, insisting that the APC remains the most stable and viable political platform in the country.

In a broader dismissal of opposition efforts, Ganduje rubbished ongoing coalition talks among rival politicians, stating confidently that such efforts would falter in the face of the APC’s growing momentum and internal strength.

“The APC is not only a ruling party; it is the only party that offers a sustainable future for Nigeria. These desperate alliances are built on ambition, not vision, and Nigerians will see through them,” he said.

Ganduje’s remarks come amid intensified political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several parties exploring potential collaborations to challenge the APC’s dominance. However, his comments underscore the confidence of the ruling party as it seeks to consolidate its grip on power.
