The APC party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka on Thursday, said Dr Abdullahi Ganduje will continue to be National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The controversy emerged following an initial court order affirming Ganduje’s suspension, which the APC has refused to honor.
Morka, speaking on Arise TV, stated the party’s support for a recent ruling from the Kano Federal High Court, which called for a stay of the suspension order. This ruling followed an exparte motion filed by Ganduje, asserting his right to a fair hearing. Notably, the court order halting the suspension was issued after Ganduje’s ward executives in Dawakin Tofa Local Government area attempted to suspend him.
The legal battle intensified as Morka argued that the individuals behind Ganduje’s suspension were not recognized members of the party, questioning their legal standing in invoking court authority. He criticized the initial court order for not following due process, citing concerns about its far-reaching effects and the lack of proper notification to the defendants.
Morka clarified that the Kano State High Court’s order affirming Ganduje’s suspension had not been officially served to the party or Ganduje himself. As a result, the APC’s response remains contingent on legal notice.
However, he stated that the Federal Court had issued an order restraining the plaintiffs from enforcing the suspension, effectively maintaining Ganduje’s status quo as the national chairman
