Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has assured citizens that the country’s security situation is steadily improving, noting that the armed forces are firmly in control of ongoing operations against terrorists and criminal groups nationwide.
Speaking on the state of national security, General Musa expressed confidence that the military’s intensified strategies are beginning to yield positive results across the country.“We should be grateful that things are getting better. For sixteen years, we’ve faced these challenges, but within the last two years, significant progress has been made,” he said.
The Defence Chief highlighted several major breakthroughs, including the arrest of top Boko Haram and Ansaru commanders, as evidence of growing operational success. He added that the coordination among the military, police, and intelligence services has strengthened the country’s security network.
Musa explained that Nigeria’s security issues have evolved, requiring more than just military intervention. He called for greater public cooperation, intelligence sharing, and good governance to address the root causes of insecurity.
“Security is not only the responsibility of the military. Citizens, communities, and governments at all levels must work together to ensure peace and stability,” he emphasized.
General Musa reaffirmed the military’s commitment to protecting lives and restoring order across the nation, assuring that Nigeria’s security remains “in capable and determined hands.”
