Goodluck Jonathan Set To Contest 2027 Presidency, Says Jerry Gana

Professor Jerry Gana, former Minister of Information and Orientation, has confirmed that former President Goodluck Jonathan will run for the presidency in 2027 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking to journalists after the PDP Niger State Congress in Minna, Gana said Nigerians are yearning for Jonathan’s return after experiencing two other leaders since his tenure.

“Nigerians have seen the difference, and the difference is very clear. Nigerians are now asking us to bring back our friend, former President Goodluck Jonathan,” Gana stated. He added, “I can confirm that Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will contest the presidential election in 2027 as PDP candidate, and we should be prepared to vote for him to return as President again.”

Gana described the PDP as “truly democratic and grassroots-oriented,” noting that the party allows Nigerians to freely choose their leaders. He attributed the party’s popularity to its people-centred programmes.

The former minister dismissed reports of internal crisis within the party, saying disagreements were resolved through a consultative conference in Abuja. “When there was a near crisis in the party, the founding fathers convened a consultative conference in Abuja and addressed all the issues. We are now prepared for the task ahead in 2027,” he assured.

Gana urged Nigerians to “shine their eyes” and vote out the current administration in favour of Jonathan’s return for “good governance.

The PDP Niger State Congress elected new leaders, with Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Halidu emerging as chairman with 1,289 votes. Halidu called for unity, urging members to “join hands in ensuring the return of a people-oriented government in 2027.”

The new leadership team includes Alhaji Khadi Kuta as Secretary and Mrs Salome Ndakosu as Woman Leader.
