Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has embarked on a transformative journey, implementing strategic initiatives across various sectors.

Demonstrating a commitment to efficient governance, the governor conducted a comprehensive workforce verification and enacted the Treasury Single Account (TSA) Bill at the commencement of his term.

These measures aimed to enhance the effectiveness of the civil service, curb financial leakages, and ensure compliance with fiscal instructions.

In the realm of security, Governor Radda prioritized community-driven policing, introducing innovative approaches focused on intelligence gathering and fostering trust between security agencies and local communities.

The governor achieved a significant milestone by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the UNDP, securing a $13 million facility to address the persistent issue of insecurity in the North-West region.

The commitment to combating banditry translated into concrete actions, including the recruitment of 2,400 youths into the Community Watch Corps (CWC) and the training and equipping of 1,456 officers actively engaged in the fight against criminal activities. Governor Radda also provided substantial financial backing, approving the monthly release of N10 million to local government councils for running costs.

Additionally, he sanctioned the recruitment and training of 150 vigilante group members in each local government area, coupled with the procurement of security vehicles and motorcycles to fortify security in select council areas.

In the education sector, Governor Radda spearheaded a comprehensive school infrastructure development program, underscoring his commitment to quality education. Notably, he fulfilled promises to S-Power beneficiaries by granting permanent recruitment to 7,000 S-Power primary and secondary school teachers.

The governor’s dedication to educational advancement was further evidenced by approving N2.7 billion for the construction of 75 secondary schools in collaboration with the World Bank project, AGILE.

Addressing the needs of medical students, Governor Radda approved the release of N112.5 million for the 2023 allowances of about 546 medical students, both home and abroad. Indigent students received N640,648,566 in bursary allowances, reflecting the governor’s commitment to inclusive and progressive educational policies.
