The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has given his nod to a N35,000 wage award for the state’s public servants.
Additionally, the governor has sanctioned the payment of a 50% end-of-year bonus on the basic salary for political appointees, public servants, employees of local governments, local council development areas, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, and the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps.
This approval was communicated through a circular, obtained by PUNCH Online, bearing the signature of the Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro.
The circular, referenced as CIR/HOS/’23/Vol. 1/109 and titled ‘2023 End Of Year Bonus And Implementation Of Wage Awards,’ outlined the governor’s decision as an expression of gratitude for the dedicated contributions of public servants to the progress of the state and his commitment to their well-being.
The statement clarified that both the end-of-year bonus and the wage award, classified as a palliative pending the review of the national minimum wage, would be disbursed alongside the December 2023 salary. Notably, these payments are designated as non-taxable elements.
The circular emphasized the administration’s continuous appreciation of public servants and urged them to maintain a high standard of service delivery in line with the governor’s THEMES+ Agenda. All heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies were urged to disseminate the information widely to ensure its awareness across the public service.
