Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially inaugurated the Lagos State Special Dispensation “Palliative” Advisory Committee.
The bipartisan committee, comprising esteemed members from various sectors, is tasked with advising the government on crucial palliative measures.
Chaired by Governor Sanwo-Olu himself, with Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat serving as the alternate chairman, the committee boasts a diverse composition aimed at fostering inclusive decision-making. Among the members are Imam Abdulazeez Onike, Chief Missioner of NASFAT; Honorable Seyi Sowunmi, representing the Labour Party in the House of Representatives; and Mrs. Joe Okei-Odumakin, a prominent human rights activist.
The committee also includes Honorable Kolade Alabi, Barrister Taofeeq Ganiu representing the PDP, and Dr. Shina Fagbenro-Byron, a former DFID official and member of the Labour Party. Additionally, Honorable Ademola Shabi, Comrade Biliaminu Oba representing the youth, and Mrs. Sola Salako-Ajulo, a renowned Consumer Rights Advocate, bring their expertise to the table.
Pastor Godman Akinlabi, the Senior Pastor of Elevation Church, and Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, serve as integral members and secretary of the committee, respectively.
Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of the committee in ensuring effective and equitable distribution of palliatives to alleviate the hardship faced by Lagosians. He expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to provide actionable recommendations to tackle the socio-economic challenges confronting the state.
