At the Concordia Annual Summit on September 19, the 2023 P3 Impact Award was presented to The HealthTech Hub Africa (HTHA).
This award, celebrating a decade of collaboration between the State Department’s Office of Global Partnerships, Concordia, and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, recognizes HTHA as a standout initiative.
HTHA operates as a pan-African health technology accelerator, fostering partnerships between governments and startups to drive data and technology-enabled innovations aimed at strengthening African healthcare systems. This collaborative effort involves key players such as The Novartis Foundation, The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Norrsken Foundation, Bridge for Billions, The Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution Rwanda, along with government ministries in Senegal and Rwanda, and a broader network of support partners.
What sets HTHA apart is its dual commitment to serving both entrepreneurs and governments, all in pursuit of the shared objective of advancing health equity. This mission is achieved through a ten-month program designed to enhance innovation and investment readiness for health tech entrepreneurs.
HTHA further facilitates the convergence of government leaders and entrepreneurs through an Intergovernmental Working Group, focused on shaping policy pathways for integrating health technology into public healthcare systems.
HTHA’s impact speaks for itself, having supported 68 organizations across 17 African nations, benefiting over 2.35 million individuals, raising $18 million in capital, and generating over 800 job opportunities.
Looking forward, HTHA aims to secure $50 million in funding over the next three years, extend its reach to over 3 million people across Africa, and create 1,200 local jobs.
