Hon Chidi Amadi Steps Down As Chief Of Staff In Rivers State

Hon Chidi Amadi, the Chief of Staff to Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, has tendered his resignation, marking another departure of a key figure from Fubara’s administration.

The announcement of Amadi’s resignation was made official on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joseph Johnson. Amadi, known for his loyalty to ex-governor and current Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is among the latest wave of Wike’s loyalists parting ways with Fubara’s government.

Johnson, speaking on behalf of Governor Fubara, confirmed the departure of Amadi and assured the public that a replacement would be named in due course. He stated, “The former Chief of Staff, Hon Chidi Amadi, has resigned. The governor will announce another Chief of Staff at the appropriate time.”

Highlighting the governor’s prerogative in making such appointments, Johnson emphasized, “It is the prerogative of the governor to appoint when he wants it. He will tell us and we will announce it, and you will also get the release to that effect.”

With Amadi’s resignation, the tally of Wike’s loyalists exiting Fubara’s administration has now reached ten, raising questions about the dynamics within the state government.

There are speculations that Edison Ehie, the former factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and a close ally of Governor Fubara, may step into the vacant Chief of Staff position. Ehie, having recently resigned from the House of Assembly, is being strongly considered for the crucial role within the state government.

As the political landscape in Rivers State continues to evolve, the impending announcement of Amadi’s replacement is anticipated with keen interest, adding another layer of intrigue to the ongoing developments in the state government.
