The Idoma Area Traditional Council in Benue State has clarified that President Bola Tinubu’s name was not included in any list of individuals presented for a traditional title.
This comes after media reports suggested the President’s title was among those nullified. According to Adegbe Uloko, Secretary to the paramount ruler of the Idoma Traditional Council, the council suspended title conferments on August 19, 2025, and reinforced this directive on September 2 to ensure proper vetting and approval processes.
The suspension applies to all intermediate area traditional councils within Idoma land. The council emphasized its commitment to upholding the dignity of the throne, preserving Idoma customs, and supporting peace and development in Benue State and Nigeria. By distancing President Tinubu from the nullified titles, the Idoma Area Traditional Council aims to quell speculation and reassert its authority over cultural matters in Idoma land.
