The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has called for a crucial gathering at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, scheduled for Monday, assembling Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors General of Police, Commissioners of Police (CPs), and top-ranking commanders within the Force.

This significant meeting, announced by Force spokesman Ademuyiwa Adejobi in a statement on Sunday, aims to address the prevalent security concerns gripping Nigeria during this festive season.

Scheduled to roll out the achievements of the police force over the past 10 weeks, the IGP intends to use this platform to not only highlight successes but also to meticulously analyze and refine the existing anti-crime strategies.

“The meeting, at the behest of the IGP, is geared towards tackling various security challenges and reassessing the Police’s anti-crime methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in maintaining peace and order in our beloved nation,” the statement elucidated.

This high-level summit is anticipated to encompass discussions involving Commissioners of Police and higher-ranking tactical commanders. Its overarching objective is to galvanize concerted efforts in ensuring comprehensive security provision for all Nigerians.

Nigeria grapples with multifaceted security threats, spanning from terrorism in the North-East to banditry in the North-West and North-Central regions, alongside issues of militancy, oil theft in the Niger Delta, secessionist movements in the South-East, and prevalent incidents of kidnapping and ritualistic crimes in the South-West.

Despite rigorous endeavors by law enforcement and security agencies, criminal elements persist in perpetrating their illicit activities, instilling fear and anxiety among innocent civilians.

The forthcoming meeting, orchestrated by the IGP, will delve deeply into these pressing security dilemmas, aiming to fortify the Police’s strategies for countering these challenges and fostering tranquility across the nation.
