In adherence to the Electoral Act 2022, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed the personal details of all candidates vying for the off-cycle governorship election in Edo State scheduled for September 21, 2024.
With seventeen out of eighteen parties submitting their candidates’ particulars before the March 24 deadline, the INEC portal automatically closed at 6:00 PM on Sunday.
As per Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022, INEC officially unveiled the Form EC9 and other credentials of governorship candidates and their deputies from the seventeen political parties at both the INEC Edo State Office and the 18 Local Government Offices on March 30, 2024.
The list includes prominent parties such as the APC, LP, PDP, SDP, and ZLP, among others.
Political parties have until April 15 to make any withdrawals or replacements of their candidates, while the deadline for submitting the final list of candidates is April 20.
