Israel Continues Strikes On Hezbollah In Beirut And Hamas In Gaza Amid Calls For Hostage Recovery.
Israeli airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut and Hamas positions in Gaza have continued in the wake of the 7 October attacks, heightening tensions in the region. The ongoing military operations follow a wave of violent confrontations between Israel and militant groups.
Earlier today, a protest was held near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem. Family members of Israeli hostages, along with their supporters, gathered to demand action for the release of their loved ones. The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, which represents the affected families, urged Netanyahu to “end the abandonment of their loved ones” and secure their return through a negotiated deal.
Tragically, it was confirmed today that Idan Shtivi, one of the hostages abducted by Hamas from the Supernova music festival during last year’s October attacks, was killed. According to Israeli figures, Hamas kidnapped 251 people during the 7 October attacks.
Before the announcement of Shtivi’s death, 117 hostages had been freed, while 37 had been confirmed dead. A further 97 remained unaccounted for, with 64 of those believed to still be alive.
The families of the remaining hostages continue to press for urgent action, as Israel’s military campaign against Hamas and Hezbollah persists.
