The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have taken full control of the Lebanese village of Maroun al-Ras, a strategic position previously used by Hezbollah to launch anti-tank missile attacks on Israel.
The village, located close to the Israeli border, had been a base for Hezbollah operations, and IDF forces captured the area as part of their expanded operations in southern Lebanon. This action is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle Hezbollah’s military infrastructure, including weapons depots and tunnels used for cross-border attacks.
The IDF also reported uncovering a Hezbollah compound in the village, which housed a launcher aimed at Israeli communities. In recent days, Hezbollah has continued to fire rockets into Israel, with the IDF responding through airstrikes targeting Hezbollah positions. The situation remains tense as Israel strengthens its operations in the region.
This development is significant, especially given Maroun al-Ras’s historical role in the 2006 Lebanon war as a key site for Hezbollah’s military operations.
