ITTF-Africa President Hails Tunisia For Record-Breaking Table Tennis Event.

The President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ITTF-Africa), Wahid Enitan Oshodi, has commended Tunisia for successfully hosting the ITTF-Africa tournament, which achieved unprecedented online viewership. The event, held in Tunis from 25-27 February, marked a significant milestone for African table tennis, drawing global attention and setting new digital engagement records.

According to a media analytics report released by the ITTF-Africa Media Team, the tournament garnered an impressive 973,700 views on Facebook and 1,523,677 views on Instagram—double the figures recorded during the previous edition in Rwanda. YouTube livestreaming also attracted over 94,000 live viewers, thanks to the world-class broadcast efforts of the Tunisian Table Tennis Federation and ITTF-Africa’s dedicated media team.

Oshodi Commends Tunisia and ITTF-Africa Media Team

In response to the event’s remarkable success, President Oshodi expressed his admiration for both the host country, Tunisia, and the ITTF-Africa Media Team.

“These numbers prove that African table tennis is steadily claiming its place in the world of sport. I have always said that there’s great potential in Africa. With these results, we must now continue to attain world-class standards in all our events, as we have just achieved in Tunisia,” Oshodi stated.

He also extended his congratulations to the Tunisia Table Tennis Federation for their efforts in hosting a successful tournament that not only showcased high-level competition but also captivated a growing international audience.

Rising Talents and Future Prospects

The ITTF-Africa President emphasised the importance of nurturing young talents, highlighting their potential to attract even greater global viewership. He noted that increased exposure could lead to more sponsorship opportunities, which would further support youth development programmes and contribute to the overall growth of table tennis across Africa.

With Tunisia setting a new benchmark for table tennis events on the continent, Oshodi urged all stakeholders to build on this momentum and continue striving towards world-class standards in organisation, media engagement, and player development.
