Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed strong confidence in his chances of winning a second term in office during the 2026 governorship election, citing his administration’s performance and popularity among the people as major strengths.
Adeleke, who underwent screening by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship committee in Abuja, said his achievements in less than three years have earned him the people’s trust. “I’m so confident I’m going to win. If I could defeat an incumbent before, now that I’m the governor, it’s unprecedented what we have achieved within two years,” he declared after the screening exercise.
Speaking on potential interference from the federal government and opposition parties, the governor said he remains unbothered, insisting that his popularity across the state will secure his re-election. “I am very popular. Everywhere you go, you hear people call me ‘Imole’. I am not afraid of federal might,” he said.
The PDP screening committee chairman, Adebayo Adepoju, confirmed that Adeleke’s credentials were in order and that the process was smooth and transparent. He noted that the party was satisfied with Adeleke’s performance and readiness to represent the PDP in the next election.
Adeleke maintained that the will of Osun people would prevail, describing his government’s achievements as the foundation for his confidence. “Our popularity is known nationally due to our excellent records of performance within less than three years in office. We are confident the will of the people will prevail in the best interest of democracy,” he added.
The governor also assured that the PDP in Osun remains united and ready for victory. “We have delivered good governance to our people in Osun. Our records and popularity are unrivalled. So we are ready for victory come 2026,” he said.
