The Dangote Group has responded to a claim made by NNPCL spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, regarding the price at which it sells Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
In a press statement issued on September 15, 2024, Dangote dismissed the assertion that it sells PMS at N898 per litre, calling the statement “misleading and mischievous.”
According to Dangote Group’s Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the claim is intended to undermine the company’s significant achievement in addressing Nigeria’s energy challenges.
The statement emphasised that the current stock of crude was procured in dollars, and Dangote sold its products to NNPCL at a rate that provides savings compared to imported fuel prices.
Chiejina also urged Nigerians to await the official pricing announcement from the Technical Sub-Committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries. The committee, appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is set to announce the pricing structure on October 1, 2024.
Dangote assured Nigerians that their efforts will ensure the availability of quality petroleum products across all regions of the country, thereby contributing to the resolution of the fuel scarcity that has plagued the nation for decades.
