In Bauchi State four individuals has been reported to have lost their lives in a stampede during an almsgiving zakat exercise for the poor.
The incident occurred at the headquarters of Shafa Holdings Company plc along Jos Road, at approximately 10 am on Sunday.
Among those affected, a 17-year-old identified as Naima Abdullahi is currently undergoing medical treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ahmed Wakili, stated that the situation has been stabilized.
The police have responded upon receiving the news, and the police commissioner has urged the public to remain calm, assuring them that the situation is under control.
