The Lagos State Government has announced road closures ahead of the 10th edition of the Lagos Women Run, scheduled for Saturday, November 9, 2025, from 6:00 a.m. The annual 10‑kilometre race, organised by the Lagos State Sports Commission in partnership with event organisers, will start at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) and finish at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said key roads will be partially closed to facilitate the event, including TBS, Water Board, Old NITEL, Outer Marina, Officers’ Mess, Bonny Camp Bridge, State House, Ahmadu Bello Way, Akin Adesola Street, Falomo Bridge, Falomo Roundabout, Awolowo Road, Onikan Roundabout, and the finish line at Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Traffic management personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Neighbourhood Corps (LSNC), and the police will be deployed to ensure the safety of participants and road users throughout the race.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the event. For example, those traveling from Ozumba Mbadiwe Road to the Third Mainland Bridge are encouraged to take Bonny Camp to Onikan Underpass, link Marina Exit to Force Road, and connect Outer Marina to the bridge.
Similarly, motorists heading from Apongbon to Ikoyi are advised to use Odunlami Street to connect to Igbosere Road, then Moloney Street to reach Ikoyi Road. Osiyemi appealed for patience and compliance with traffic officials, stressing that closures are temporary and will be lifted gradually as the race progresses.
The Lagos Women Run, now in its 10th year, continues to promote health, fitness, and women’s participation in sports, attracting thousands of participants from across the state.
