President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Abuja after attending the Aqaba Process Heads of State and Government-level Meeting held in Rome, Italy.
The Nigerian leader returned to the country on Saturday after several days of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening international security cooperation.
During the meeting, President Tinubu joined other world leaders to deliberate on key security challenges affecting Africa and the Middle East, including terrorism, illegal arms trafficking, and maritime threats in the Gulf of Guinea. The discussions focused on enhancing intelligence sharing and building stronger partnerships to combat transnational crimes.
The Aqaba Process, established by Jordan’s King Abdullah II, brings together global leaders and security experts to coordinate responses to emerging threats. President Tinubu emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to regional stability and called for greater collaboration among nations to defeat terrorism and promote peace across borders.
Officials who accompanied the President included the Minister of Defence, the National Security Adviser, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency. Nigerian representatives also engaged in bilateral meetings with counterparts from other countries to discuss security cooperation and intelligence coordination.
Before departing Italy, President Tinubu expressed appreciation for the platform provided by the Aqaba Process, noting that global cooperation remains vital to overcoming the persistent threats of extremism and organized crime. He reaffirmed his administration’s determination to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and enhance regional security partnerships.
The President’s return marks the conclusion of his official engagements in Rome as Nigeria continues to strengthen diplomatic and security ties with global partners.
