The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has suspended three of its officers and declared them wanted over alleged gross misconduct.
The action follows an internal investigation that found them guilty of acts considered unacceptable within the security outfit.
The state commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the suspension while addressing newsmen in Akure on Monday. He said the affected officers were dismissed after being subjected to a disciplinary process. “We have suspended three of our men for misconduct and declared them wanted because they violated the operational rules guiding the agency,” Adeleye stated.
He explained that the disciplinary action became necessary to maintain the integrity and discipline for which the Amotekun Corps is known. According to him, the agency will not tolerate any behavior capable of tarnishing its image or undermining the security efforts of the Ondo State Government.
Adeleye further revealed that the suspended officers fled from the state after the internal inquiry found them culpable. “Their actions were against the ethics of our service, and we are making all efforts to apprehend them and ensure they face the full weight of the law,” he added.
The commander reiterated that Amotekun remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state, noting that the conduct of a few individuals would not overshadow the dedication of thousands of honest officers working to secure the people of Ondo.
Residents have praised the agency’s decision to act swiftly against erring members, describing it as a step that will strengthen public trust and accountability within the corps.
