The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) in Kaduna State has suspended its ongoing strike following a crucial meeting with top state government officials and representatives of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
The meeting, which took place on Monday at the chambers of the Kaduna State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sir James Kanyip, brought together union leaders and stakeholders to resolve the dispute that had paralyzed judicial activities in the state.
According to a communiqué issued after the meeting, all parties agreed to suspend the strike while discussions continue to address the issues raised by the workers. The document was jointly signed by JUSUN Chairman Auwal Sarki, Attorney General Sir James Kanyip, NBA Kaduna Branch Chairman Baba Lawal Aliyu, and NBA Barnawa Vice Chairman E. E. Ekhasemomhe.
“After extensive deliberations on the ongoing industrial action by JUSUN Kaduna State, all parties agreed on the need for continued dialogue and an amicable resolution of the outstanding issues,” the communiqué stated.
The union noted that the suspension of the strike was temporary, pending the outcome of a follow-up meeting scheduled for Thursday, October 30, 2025, which will include representatives of the JUSUN National Executive Council.
Stakeholders at the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining industrial harmony and ensuring the smooth administration of justice across the state. They also expressed optimism that further dialogue would lead to a lasting resolution of the workers’ grievances.
