Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has appealed to the federal government for support in addressing the dual challenges of insecurity and recurrent flooding affecting various parts of the state.
In a statement released on Friday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo made the plea during a meeting with a delegation from the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) at the Government House in Lokoja.
Highlighting Kogi’s strategic position as a transit state sharing borders with the Federal Capital Territory and 10 other states, Governor Ododo emphasised the urgent need for increased financial assistance from the federal government to tackle the pressing issues of insecurity and flooding.
He warned that if left unattended, the security challenges and persistent flooding could have adverse effects not only on Kogi State but also on the federal capital Abuja and neighbouring states.
The governor’s call for federal support underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing critical issues affecting the well-being and safety of the populace.
