Lagos Assembly Directs Staff To Work Remotely Amid Leadership Crisis.
The Lagos State House of Assembly has instructed all staff and legislative aides to work remotely indefinitely as a precautionary measure amid the ongoing leadership dispute.
The directive was issued by the Acting Clerk, Mr Babatunde Ottun Abubakar, in a memo addressed to all staff. The decision aims to ensure their safety and prevent any potential breakdown of law and order within the Assembly complex.
Titled “Amendment to Remote Work Schedule Arrangement,” the memo outlined that all categories of staff, including those at the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission (LAHASCOM) and legislative aides, should carry out their duties from home until further notice.
The move follows the reaffirmation of the removal of Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker and the appointment of Rt. Hon. (Princess) Lasbat Mojisola Meranda as his replacement. The memo assured staff of the new Speaker’s commitment to their safety and a peaceful resolution of the crisis.
The leadership dispute has heightened tensions within the Assembly, prompting concerns over security and the smooth functioning of legislative activities. The state government and Assembly leadership continue to work towards a resolution to restore stability.
