The Lagos State Government is gearing up to kick off the Y2026 Ministerial Press Briefing, a key public accountability initiative aimed at highlighting the achievements, policies, programs, and developmental progress made by the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Obafemi Hamzat over the past year.

This month-long briefing, organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy, is set to officially begin on Monday, May 11, 2026. Members of the Lagos State Executive Council, including commissioners and heads of various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), will be on hand to provide thorough accounts of their work, reflecting the administration’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and engaging with citizens.

The Purpose of the Ministerial Press Briefing

The annual Ministerial Press Briefing has become a vital tradition in governance for Lagos State, acting as a direct communication channel between government institutions and the public regarding policies, achievements, and future plans. With detailed presentations backed by facts, figures, and performance indicators, Lagosians will gain a clearer picture of how public resources have been utilized to foster development throughout the state.

This exercise is expected to showcase the accomplishments achieved under the THEMES+ developmental agenda of the Governor Sanwo-Olu administration. The THEMES+ Agenda serves as the strategic policy framework steering governance and development in Lagos State, concentrating on key areas such as transportation, health, education, technology, environment, security, and social inclusion, among others.

Government officials have indicated that the briefing will also provide a platform for citizens, stakeholders, development partners, and the media to engage directly with policymakers on issues that impact governance and service delivery.

The 2026 edition of the Ministerial Press Briefing holds significant political and administrative weight, especially with the upcoming general elections on the horizon. This event is set to be more than just a platform for accountability; it’s a chance for the administration to showcase its achievements to the public.

Observers believe this exercise will allow residents to take a closer look at how the Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat administration has performed by reviewing the real projects, reforms, and socio-economic initiatives that have been rolled out over the years. It will also shed light on the government’s long-term vision for a “Greater Lagos.”

Government officials have made it clear that the focus remains on fostering sustainable growth, renewing infrastructure, expanding the economy, and enhancing the quality of life for residents throughout the state.

Focus Areas to Expect During the Briefing

Over the course of the month-long engagement, various ministries and agencies will be sharing updates on several key sectors, which include:

– Development in infrastructure and transportation
– Improvements in healthcare delivery and public health
– Initiatives for education and youth empowerment
– Housing projects and urban regeneration efforts
– Environmental sustainability and waste management strategies
– Economic growth and investment promotion activities
– Security frameworks and public safety measures
– Advances in digital innovation and e-governance
– Social welfare programs and community development

These presentations will highlight completed projects, ongoing initiatives, policy reforms, and future plans aimed at ensuring Lagos State remains Nigeria’s economic and commercial hub.

Commitment to Transparency and Inclusive Governance

The Lagos State Government is making it clear that the Ministerial Press Briefing is all about being open and accountable to the public. By sharing measurable results and engaging directly with the media, it hope to build trust and encourage everyone to get involved in governance.

Officials have pointed out that the accomplishments of the administration highlight what is better referred to as intentional leadership, smart management of public resources, and responsible governance. This initiative is also set to enhance democratic participation by giving citizens direct access to information about government activities and development priorities.

To make sure everyone can join in and stay informed, all sessions of the Ministerial Press Briefing will be streamed live on the official Lagos State Government social media platforms. This digital strategy is designed to allow Lagosians, both at home and abroad, to follow along in real time, engage with updates, and stay in the loop about government programs and policies.

The live-streaming effort showcases how the Lagos State Government is embracing digital communication tools to promote transparency, civic engagement, and the spread of information.

As Lagos State gears up for the Y2026 Ministerial Press Briefing on May 11, 2026, there are high hopes for showcasing achievements, policy results, and future development plans from the Sanwo-Olu/Hamzat administration.

This month-long event is expected to bolster accountability in governance, give citizens a clearer view of government performance, and further enhance communication between the government and the people of Lagos State.
