Landmark Group Secures Waterfront For Ambitious Redevelopment Project In Port Harcourt.

In a significant boost to the tourism and hospitality sectors, the Landmark Group has officially announced the acquisition of prime waterfront land in Port Harcourt. This move comes as part of a strategic partnership with the Rivers State Government, aimed at transforming the area formerly known as the Port Harcourt Tourist Beach into a premier international destination for leisure and tourism.

Nigerian Business Mogul Paul Onwuanibe Landmark Group CEO

The landmark agreement was signed yesterday, marking the beginning of an ambitious project that promises to revitalise one of Nigeria’s once-thriving tourist spots. According to official statements, the redevelopment will encompass a range of facilities including luxury hotels, water sports amenities, cultural centres, and expansive green spaces designed to attract both local and international visitors.

Governor of Rivers State, during the signing ceremony, expressed enthusiasm about the project: “This partnership with the Landmark Group is not just an investment in land, but an investment in the future of our state. We are set to see Port Harcourt become a beacon of tourism in West Africa.”

Recall that the Landmark Resort in Lagos was demolished by the Government to make way for the proposed coastal highway, which now seems on hold.

The new project in Port Harcourt is expected to generate thousands of jobs during the construction phase and thereafter, contributing significantly to the local economy. The initiative also includes plans for environmental sustainability, ensuring that the development enhances rather than detracts from the natural beauty of the area.

Chinedu Eze, a spokesperson for the Landmark Group, highlighted the vision behind the project: “Our aim is to create a destination that not only serves as a hub for leisure but also respects and showcases the rich cultural heritage of Rivers State. We are committed to bringing world-class amenities while preserving the ecological balance.”

Local residents have reacted with excitement to the news, with many expressing hope that this development will bring back the glory days of the Port Harcourt Tourist Beach, which was a popular retreat in the past decades.

Construction is slated to begin later this year, with preliminary works focusing on site clearance and planning. More detailed project timelines and further information on the scope of the redevelopment will be released in the coming months as the project progresses.

This initiative is seen as a cornerstone in the broader strategy to elevate Port Harcourt’s status on the map of global tourism, promising not only to enhance the city’s appeal but also to foster economic growth through tourism and hospitality.
