The Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has launched an investigation into one of its employees over allegations of using a personal bank account to collect payments meant for signage-related services.
The probe comes following a whistle-blower’s report that sparked concerns about financial misconduct within the agency.
According to the State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the report was confirmed after preliminary checks. He emphasized that any act of diverting public funds is a serious breach of both financial and ethical standards. “We will not tolerate any form of unethical behavior in the civil service,” Wahab stated.
LASAA has directed the employee in question to report to its head office for immediate questioning and disciplinary proceedings. The agency stressed that swift corrective measures would be taken to maintain public trust and ensure the integrity of its operations.
The whistle-blower had shared the information on social media, prompting the agency to take urgent action. LASAA reassured stakeholders that the investigation would be thorough and transparent to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future.
Officials noted that the probe aligns with the government’s broader effort to enforce accountability and transparency across all public institutions. Wahab also urged members of the public to continue reporting any suspicious activities to ensure that ethical standards are upheld in state operations.
LASAA has promised that the outcome of the investigation will be communicated to the public once concluded. The agency reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and protecting the interests of the citizens it serves.
