The Lagos State Government (LASG) has engaged stakeholders from Computer Village, Ikeja, in a key meeting to discuss the relocation of the market to Katangowa, Agbado-Oke Odo.
The initiative is part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s plan to ensure a transparent and inclusive relocation process.
Speaking at the meeting, the Permanent Secretary of the Office of Urban Development, Mr. Gbolahan Oki, highlighted that this was the first official engagement with traders in 15 years. He emphasized the government’s commitment to openness and collaboration with market stakeholders.
The proposed ICT and Business Park at Katangowa is expected to feature modern amenities, including hotels, banks, recreational centers, car parks, a fire station, a police post, and improved road networks. Mr. Oki explained that moving the market from Ikeja, originally a residential area, would solve long-standing challenges and appealed to traders to avoid conducting business on streets, setbacks, and drainage areas.
Chief Abisola Azeez, the Iyaloja of Computer Village, thanked the governor for the initiative, noting that the new site would enhance the market’s potential and create better opportunities for both traders and customers.
