Late Indian Billionaire ‘Ratan Tata’ Names Dog As Beneficiary Of £91 Million Estate.

Indian business icon Ratan Tata, who passed away on 9 October 2024 at age 86, reportedly named his German shepherd, Tito, as a beneficiary of his £91 million estate. Known for his immense contributions in building the Tata Group into a global enterprise, Tata’s estate plan reveals his thoughtful attention to loved ones, loyal staff, and his cherished pet.

Tata’s £91 million estate, equating to a will of Rs 10,000 crore, designates the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation (RTEF) as the primary recipient. According to reports from The Times of India, the majority of his wealth, including stakes in Tata Sons and various Tata Group entities, will transfer to RTEF, supporting charitable causes in his honour.

In addition to the foundation, Tata’s will provides for his family members, close friends, and dedicated staff. His brother, Jimmy Tata, and his half-sisters, Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy, are among the beneficiaries. His long-time cook, Rajan Shaw, and butler, Subbiah, who served him for years with unwavering loyalty, are also included in the allocations.

Notably, Tata’s executive assistant and confidante, Shantanu Naidu, will receive a share, acknowledging the trusted role he played in Tata’s life and work.

Perhaps most touching is Tata’s provision for his beloved pet Tito, who was adopted around five to six years ago. Known for his deep affection for animals, Tata ensured Tito would receive “unlimited” care for life. Rajan Shaw, who has cared for Tito, will continue to look after the dog, with sufficient resources set aside to guarantee his lifelong wellbeing.

Ratan Tata’s estate plan reflects a legacy rooted in compassion, loyalty, and service, encompassing both his family and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable career.
