Mauricio Pochettino: Moving To England; One Of The Best Decision Of My Life

Chelsea Manager Mauricio Pochettino Reflects on 400 Games in English Football

Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea FC, is celebrating a significant milestone as he approaches his 400th game in English football.

The upcoming match against his former club Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge marks this remarkable achievement for the Argentine coach.

Having previously managed Southampton and Spurs, Pochettino’s journey in English football has been filled with memorable experiences.

His move to England, as he describes it, was “one of the best decisions” of his life, a sentiment he shared ahead of the milestone match.

Pochettino credits his wife and friend Jesus Perez for persuading him to join Southampton, a decision that paved the way for his successful coaching career in England.

Reflecting on his time in the country, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to immerse himself in the rich football culture of England, which he now considers “like home.”

During his tenure at Tottenham, Pochettino achieved notable feats, including guiding the team to the Champions League final in the 2018-19 season, reaching the League Cup final in his debut full season, and securing a second-place finish in the Premier League in 2017.

Since taking charge of Chelsea at the start of the current season, Pochettino has faced scrutiny amid the club’s performance in the league.

Despite significant investments in transfers by Chelsea’s owners, the team currently sits ninth in the Premier League, five points away from a likely European qualification spot.

Despite challenges, there have been glimpses of promise from Pochettino’s youthful squad, evident in their earlier 4-1 victory over Tottenham this season.

Looking ahead to the upcoming clash against his former club, Pochettino acknowledges the emotional aspect of facing familiar faces and reconnecting with the club he once led.

As Pochettino celebrates this milestone, he remains focused on steering Chelsea towards success in the remaining fixtures of the season, aiming to continue making a positive impact in English football.
