Meta Platforms, Inc., the parent company of the social media platforms Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, has announced the expansion of its Meta AI services to Nigeria and six other African countries.
According to the blog post released on Thursday, Meta AI services are now available in Ghana, South Africa, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The expansion extends beyond the African continent to include Canada, Australia, Jamaica, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Singapore.
The rollout of Meta AI outside the United States is part of Meta’s efforts to provide users with new creative, expressive, and productivity tools directly within its popular apps. The services, currently available in English, are designed to seamlessly integrate into users’ daily lives.
The Meta AI, powered by the advanced Meta Llama 3 technology, empowers users to accomplish tasks, acquire knowledge, foster creativity, and forge connections with ease. The company highlights that the latest advances in Meta AI make it smarter, faster, and more fun than ever before.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, expressed excitement about sharing the next-generation assistant with more people and making it work seamlessly by providing real-time information through seamless search integration in the apps users know and love.
The upgraded Meta AI introduces new features, including the ability to animate photos and generate high-quality images in real-time. It also offers a playback video of the creation process.
