The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, HM Festus Keyamo SAN, has admonished the recently appointed CEOs and directors of aviation agencies, urging them to prioritize serving the Nigerian people over personal financial gains.
During the official induction ceremony in Abuja, Minister Keyamo emphasized the importance of optimal duty performance aligned with the ministry’s key performance indicators.
He explicitly stated that if their primary objective is financial gain and not service, they should consider resigning.
Keyamo outlined key performance indicators, including strict compliance with safety regulations, support for local airlines/operators, human capacity development, and revenue generation for the Federal Government.
He reminded the appointees to adhere to the government’s financial policy and exercise careful scrutiny, especially regarding financial documents.
In mid-December, the Federal Government initiated a sweeping change by dismissing all directors of civil aviation agencies, followed by the removal of chief executive officers.
The newly appointed CEOs now face Minister Keyamo’s directive to prioritize public service over monetary motives.
The affected agencies in this overhaul include the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigeria Metrological Agency (NiMET), Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and the Nigeria Safety and Investigation Bureau (NSIB).
