During a conference with State Commissioners for Women Affairs, Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy, highlighted the importance of these measures in upholding the rule of law and combating corruption. Attended by Permanent Secretaries from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, the conference aimed to familiarize participants with the legal framework necessary to advance inclusiveness, empowerment, and justice delivery for vulnerable groups.
Kennedy emphasized the collaborative effort needed between women groups, media, and other stakeholders to achieve inclusiveness and justice. She further stressed the importance of state-level accountability in realizing these goals.
The overarching program, spanning five years and supported by the European Union International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, seeks to advance gender equality, empowerment, and inclusiveness, with a focus on women, children, and persons with disabilities.
