The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has assured that all financial matters related to the 2025 Hajj have been fully reconciled, dismissing reports of delays in preparations for the 2026 exercise.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the commission’s Principal Information Officer, Malam Shafii Mohammed, said refunds due to pilgrims from the 2025 Hajj have been settled in full.
“Nineteen states that requested reconciliation of pilgrims’ Hajj fare refunds have been duly settled. Refunds from previous years have also been cleared, except in cases where some states are yet to formally initiate reconciliation with the commission,” Mohammed explained.
He stressed that with the accounts resolved, NAHCON is now focusing on preparations for the 2026 pilgrimage. Part of the commission’s strategy, he said, is to encourage early payment of Hajj fares to align with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s operational calendar.
According to him, “Prompt remittance will help Nigeria secure key services in Makkah, Madinah, and the Mashā’ir, while also ensuring full participation in next year’s pilgrimage.”
“NAHCON therefore calls on state Muslim pilgrims’ welfare boards, agencies, commissions, and licensed tour operators to remit Hajj fares promptly to avoid last-minute challenges,” he added.
