NANS Demands Arrest Of Factional Leader Lucky Emonefe For Impersonation And Attempted Fraud

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone B, South-South, has called on the Nigerian Police and the Department of State Service (DSS) to arrest and prosecute the association’s factional leader, Lucky Emonefe, on charges of impersonation and attempted fraud.

This call was made during a press conference in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, by the Zonal Secretary, Comrade Nathaniel Archibong.

Archibong, alongside other NANS leaders from the zone, alleged that Emonefe has been impersonating the president of NANS and attempting to defraud the Akwa Ibom State government of N13 billion.

The accusations stem from a two-page letter Emonefe allegedly drafted to Governor Umo Eno, threatening to mobilize students to shut down the Government House over compensation related to the acquisition of land for the Coconut Refinery in Mkpat-Enin Local Government Area.

Archibong described Emonefe as an impostor lacking the authority to speak on student welfare issues and demanded his immediate arrest. He accused Emonefe of conspiracy and fraud, highlighting that the factional leader’s threats aimed to coerce the governor into paying a substantial sum to unidentified individuals.

“As a zone, we demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of Lucky Emonefe by the police and the Department of State Service for impersonating the office of the NANS President in an attempt to confuse the students’ community,” stated Archibong.

He further called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to prosecute Emonefe and his accomplices for attempting to defraud the state.

Archibong also accused Emonefe of obstructing justice by circulating false judicial declarations without providing substantial evidence. He urged the relevant authorities to prosecute Emonefe for conspiracy to disrupt government activities and intimidate the office of the governor, describing such actions as treasonable felony.
