NASA has firmly rejected reality star Kim Kardashian’s recent comments suggesting that the historic 1969 moon landing never occurred.
The agency’s response came after Kardashian cast doubt on the Apollo 11 mission during an episode of her reality show, The Kardashians.
In the episode, Kardashian told her co-star Sarah Paulson, “I’m sending you a million articles with both Buzz Aldrin and the other one,” referring to astronaut Neil Armstrong. She claimed Aldrin once said, “There was no scary moment because it didn’t happen,” when asked about his most frightening experience during the mission.
Kardashian further stated in a confessional interview, “I don’t think we did. I think it was fake.” She pointed to several reasons for her disbelief, including the movement of the American flag, the mismatch between lunar boot prints and museum displays, and the lack of visible stars in photographs taken on the moon.
In response, NASA’s acting administrator, Sean Duffy, tagged Kardashian in a post on X, writing, “Yes, we’ve been to the Moon before… 6 times! And even better: NASA is going back under the leadership of [President] Trump.”
The agency reiterated that the moon landings between 1969 and 1972 were genuine and scientifically verified. It cited evidence such as the 382 kilograms of lunar rocks collected during missions, which have been tested and authenticated by laboratories across the globe.
NASA’s swift rebuttal underscores its commitment to combating misinformation about one of humanity’s most celebrated achievements in space exploration.
