Timberwolves hit back against Mavericks in play-offs.
The Minnesota Timberwolves claimed a vital 105-100 victory against the Dallas Mavericks, keeping their hopes alive for a place in the NBA Finals. Trailing 3-0 in the best-of-seven series, the Timberwolves faced a must-win situation in Dallas to avoid elimination.
Anthony Edwards led the charge with 29 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns added 25 points. “We just wanted to get one game and extend the series,” Edwards said. “I’ve never been swept in my career. I didn’t want to get swept. Not on their home court, hearing their fans talk trash all day.”
Minnesota started strongly, building a 12-point lead in the first quarter. However, the fifth-seeded Mavericks mounted a comeback, turning the game into a closely contested battle. With just under six minutes left, Towns hit a crucial three-pointer to give the Timberwolves a 92-90 lead, which they maintained until the end.
“Give Minnesota credit,” Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said. “They fought and they found a way to extend the series, and now it goes back to Minnesota.”
The Timberwolves, making their first trip to the Conference Finals in 20 years and only their second in the franchise’s 35-year history, will host Game 5 at 01:30 BST on Friday.
The winner of the Western Conference Finals will face the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals, after the Celtics completed a clean sweep against the Indiana Pacers.
