Ndidi Says Beşiktaş Must Improve After Loss To Fenerbahçe

Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has reflected on Beşiktaş’s 3‑2 defeat to Fenerbahçe, admitting that the team must improve following the setback.

Ndidi revealed that the match “was going well for us. We even took a 2‑0 lead” before a red card changed the course of the game.

Beşiktaş initially looked strong, with goals from El Bilal Touré and Emirhan Topçu putting them ahead. However, in the 25th minute, Orkun Kökçü’s foul led to a yellow card that was later upgraded to red following a VAR review, reducing the team to ten men for the majority of the match.

Fenerbahçe capitalized on the numerical advantage, with İsmail Yüksek scoring in the 32nd minute and Marco Asensio equalizing just before half‑time. The winning goal came from Jhon Durán in the 83rd minute, completing a dramatic comeback.

Ndidi highlighted that although the team showed determination, there was a lack of consistency and cohesion after the sending‑off. “We had a fighting spirit. We need to build on that a little more. We know we have quality. We must all stay united,” he said.

The loss represents a setback for Beşiktaş in the Turkish Süper Lig and underscores the importance of maintaining composure in high‑pressure situations, especially when disciplinary issues arise. Ndidi stressed that the team must learn from the experience to strengthen future performances.

Beşiktaş now faces the challenge of regrouping and addressing their weaknesses as the season progresses, with Ndidi urging his teammates to stay focused and improve collectively.
