NGF Launches Investopedia To Boost Investment Across Nigeria’s States

NGF Launches Investopedia To Boost Investment Across Nigeria’s States.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has unveiled Investopedia, a transformative platform designed to attract investment to Nigeria’s 36 states by showcasing their economic potential. The initiative, announced by Tanko Abdullahi, NGF’s Director of Media and Strategic Communications, will be officially launched on Tuesday, 19 August 2025, at the Hilton Hotel in Abuja, marking a pivotal step towards bridging the gap between Nigeria’s untapped opportunities and global capital.

Investopedia, a biennial publication available in both print and digital formats, will highlight priority projects across sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, tourism, and digital technology. Compiled over three months with validated data from state governments, the platform offers investors detailed analyses, competitive advantages, and policy incentives to foster an enabling business environment. The NGF aims to promote the initiative at global events, including the Intra-African Trade Fair, the UN General Assembly, and the Africa Investment Forum, to attract international investors.

The launch event will see governors from all 36 states present their flagship projects, with a ceremonial Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing to formalise partnerships and lay the foundation for the NGF Fund. A keynote address from the Central Bank of Nigeria will lend sovereign backing, while foreign investors, ambassadors, and experts from Afreximbank, MOFI, UNDP, Cavista, and the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission will participate. The event will conclude with the distribution of Investopedia to development finance institutions, embassies, and private capital desks.

Abdullahi noted that Nigeria has long faced challenges such as low investor confidence, frequent government transitions, and fragmented entry points, which have hindered state-level investment. Investopedia seeks to address these by providing a coordinated, credible platform for high-impact investments. The NGF also plans a robust post-launch roadmap, including investment clinics for government-to-government and business-to-government matching in Q3 and Q4 2025, alongside capacity-building programmes on public-private partnership structuring and risk mitigation.

This initiative, complemented by the NGF’s collaboration with the Nigerian Press Council on a book documenting states’ economic and tourism profiles, underscores the Forum’s commitment to driving sustainable development and positioning Nigeria as a prime destination for global investment.
